Launched in 2015 by Daniel Kilov, Mental Athlete is a lifestyle brand for the brain.
The Mental Athlete lifestyle is one which seeks to leverage evidence-based strategies to enhance cognitive performance. It is about giving people scientifically proven strategies to help them do whatever they want to faster, better and for longer.
We are all Mental Athletes, but what that means is different for different people. For one person, it might mean being able to ace a test at school, or to be more creative in front of an easel. For another, that might mean having energy to play with the kids after a long day at work, or to finally have the tools and confidence to tackle a bucket list item like learning another language.
In addition, Mental Athlete is a community dedicated to raising levels of scientific literacy and standards of evidence but in a way which is grounded in useful, applicable technology.
A Memory Athlete.
Daniel was the silver medalist at the 2011 and 2012 Australian Memory Championships. He also broke the Australian record for the abstract images event and is the official holder of that record, having memorized the order of 115 abstract shapes.
Since then, Daniel has become a sought after speaker and educator and has been described in the media as one of “the nation’s, finest thinkers and communicators”. He was a speaker at the 2011 Australian Mensa Conference and was the opening speaker at the TEDxMacquarie and TEDxCanberra conferences in 2012. In 2014 his audiences included TEDxManly and the Mind and Its Potential conference.
Daniel believes that we are all mental athletes; in a competitive world, we all need to be able to remember more, to be more creative, innovative and focused. In this sense, the techniques used by memory athletes should be available to everyone.
